Thanks for your support everyone.

It's been a very challenging year but now that we have the facilities on-site, even with a massively reduced workforce, we've been able to really make some headway this year.

So far, we've had three boats out of the water; two of which have had a lot of dings and damage to the hulls repaired and been completely repainted (Song was splashed yesterday just three hours before she was due on hire!). Song has now lost her Aston Blue hull and is white. We'll improve this look soon with a further coat of paint and a stripe of orange. Sweet was repainted over the summer and Fine has had quite a tidy, but is due far more.

I can't tell you how much we've changed this year. We're a much leaner operation (partly out of necessity due to the poor season bookings) and whilst there have been many problems to overcome, we're still here and planning the next season - unlike LeBoat. Next year may well see a smaller fleet though and as many of you know, we could have run three more boats this year, but the demand just hasn't been sufficient to warrant the extra manpower that would have been required to support these.

We're almost at the end of our first season on the Southern Broads. Yes, it's different. A lot different, but the location is fabulous and with people screaming out for more Southern Broads boats (even suggesting that Herbert Woods operate the Leboat fleet from down there (yeah, right)) it's a shame that the year has been so slack overall.

The clear message has got to be this. The multi-millionnaire owners of Herbert Woods, Richardsons, Barnes and Ferry and the like can prop up thier businesses in slack times and divert resources from the many diverse revenue streams that form part of their overall business. The investment at some of these yards over recent months has been staggering. The smaller operations have far less ability to do this; custom will keep the Southern Broads alive.

Photos of our work on Song will be uploaded to our facebook page shortly.

How right you are Andy. As in most walks of life the the big boys can ride the bad times much to the detriment of the smaller businesses, just look at all the major shops who have driven the small shops into oblivion as an example.
However most large companies do not supply the personal touch, something that is sorely missed these days.

Its good to see you in there fighting your corner. We wish you well and admire your efforts.
And thanks for the update on your progress.

We on the forum do try to support guys like yourself, that is the basics of the NBO awards. To help promote interest in businesses of all types around the Broads. After all without you guys the Broads would be a much poorer place for us to take our holidays.

So our message is to all, whatever business you run please feel free to post information, ( Type of business, Contact details, Mail address, Web address etc.) on our forum. Its free and as they say Every Little Helps.

Please join us on the 2nd November at the Ferry Inn, Horning for our Awards night. It is a great evenings entertainment and you can meet other business folk to exchange views and promote yourselves.
Tickets can be booked here. viewtopic.php?f=173&t=7921
