I would advise your confused friend to go with the flap. We have a 35ft motor boat, Windmill Lady, and a small sailey. Windmill Lady, or WL for short, doubles as a floating holiday home and the sailey doubles as a tender - very useful for those days when you can't get on the staithe at Ranworth or when mudweighting at Salhouse and you fancy a pint at the Fur n Feather. I would love a sailey big enough to stay on, but it wouldn't offer the same sort of comfort as WL and we are not getting any younger, so need our comforts. The perfect answer would be a bigger dinghy, but I am limited as to what I can keep on the moorings and it would be a bit ridiculous to drag something that was 16ft plus behind us as a tender. Of course, I would really love a big sailey and keep WL as well, but that would require a lottery win.

If you like a pint at the Fur then you could always moor at Woodbastwick Staithe. It's a nice walk from there.

Oh, scratch that, it's private now, isn't it!
